Meeting - Thursday 4th November
On the 4th November at 7pm there will be a meeting in the staff room for all parents who would like to have some input into our reporting format. We feel it is time to make changes with 'National Standards' coming out and with the introduction of 'Ultranet' (our new management system) next year. Please come and contribute to your child's learning.

Friday - to do list
Today you have a few things to work on.
- Make the most of the time to get your speech sorted for Monday. If you have finished writing it get a buddy and practice it with them, time it, get feedback. If you want, get the key off Miss Hart for the drawer and record yourself so you can see what you need to work on.
- Reading - if you have finished your speech and it is perfect do another card or two.
- Maze - look down the page and see who can make the best maze - colour, picture, just a few things to think about. There will be a prize next week for the best maze.
Remember who you can and can't work with - Mr V-W knows who and will let me know on Monday - don't be the one to ruin it for everyone. I am sure you can all have a good day though, can't wait to see your speeches on Monday!

Don't run after dinner
Got a bit lazy this morning and decided to run when I got home from school. Not a good idea, by the time I played with the kids, spent time with the wife, bathed the kids, read story and got them to bed it was still only 7.30pm. Bad thing was though is I decided to eat dinner with the kids. Thought an hour rest after dinner before running would be ok, how wrong was I. Funny enough though, I ran the same time as I did the other day, go figure? Got to try out my new nike band. Didn't even sync it and it said I ran 4.58km, 20m out from what mapmyrun.com told me I ran. Really good to see how long you have been running for, how fast you are running, how far you have ran and how many calories you have burnt. Think it will be good for my motivation and my competitive streak. Anyone got one of these? I need someone to set some challenges against? Total Distance Covered so far = 12.7 km Total Time Running = 1 hour 11 min Runs Completed = 3

Commonwealth Games
During the holidays the Commonwealth Games are supposed to be happening in India.
You need to research the Commonwealth Games and present your information in any way you like. Think of the different things we have used this year. It needs to be embedded on your blog - which also means you need to make sure your presentation, spelling, grammar etc are all correct. Get a teacher to read it, get a buddy to read it, use word and a dictionary.
Here is a list of ideas to include in your presentation - but remember - you can add a lot more also (make sure it is not copy and pasted!)
- What is the Commonwealth?
- Why do we have the Commonwealth Games?
- Is there a symbol?
- Where are they held? How often? How do countries get to hold them?
- Who attends?
- What sports?
- Who are New Zealand's best medal prospects? What sport? Quick bio about them?
- There have been many issues regarding these games - what are they? Find out info on these.
- Are the Commonwealth Games going to go ahead? What do you think? Would you want to?
- Security issues - discuss these - terrorism

Awesome Work
Just wanting to let the Digimax Class know they have done an amazing job in class this week! The effort they put into their stories has been amazing and they have proved that they can work hard and get fantastic results. Hopefully they continue to put this effort in for the remainder of the year and turn out some more fantastic work.
